  • Five Confined Water Training dives in the fabulous new TPASC facility

  • Four Open Water Training dives
  • Training conducted by PADI Certified Instructors and Divemasters who are also SUCI club members

And let’s not forget about the fun! The fun part about this course is . . . well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver.

Why learn with SUCI?

When you learn to dive with SUCI, you’re joining a club that believes in safe, conservative, enjoyable diving. We have a focus on training with high staff to student ratios and numerous PADI professionals and club members that give of their time to share their love and knowledge of scuba with new divers.

Where is the course held?

  • PADI eLearning (Online knowledge development) can be completed wherever you have access to the Internet. You can get started on your eLearning as soon as you’re registered for the course.
  • Confined Water Dives: Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, 875 Morningside Road south of the 401 (Map)
  • Open Water: Crowe River, Marmora (30 minutes east of Peterborough on Hwy 7) (Map)

Are there any prerequisites?
To enrol in the SUCI Open Diver course yourself, you must be 18 years or older. If you are 14 -17, you must have a parent or legal guardian in “good standing” as member of SUCI. That parent or legal guardian must participate in your training with you.

What do I need to bring? What equipment does SUCI provide?

  • For all dives: You will need to provide your own scuba mask, snorkel, and fins
  • For Confined Water Dives: SUCI provides the BCD (Buoyancy Compensation Device), regulator and scuba tank. We recommend you obtain a 3mm wet suit for comfort as it can get a little chilly when you’re in the pool.
  • For Open Water Dives: You will need to rent or purchase a BCD, regulators, tank, weights and weight belt. You’ll also need a 7mm wetsuit, hood and gloves.
*Club discounts are available on equipment rental and purchases of snorkelling packages and other equipment from the following local dive shops that support our club:
